It pisses me off when drummers freak out about that, and guy's like Shawn Pelton go over looked for years. Yet they make a much better living playing on tons of CDs. The fact is that most drummers are disfuntional because of guys like Donati and Fam going around the world saying "check THIS out!". What are they saying musically?? Nothing
Gadd is God! hahahaha
Cool board!

There's one guy who is in a league of his own in the groove spectrum and that's Chris Parker, IMO.
I got a big kick out of watching him play on SNL and he was a hitter.
Some of the stuff he did with Stuff (sorry...) was pretty fantastic.

I was thinking more like Pelton's girlfriend.
Drayton, Parker, & Pelton are all great drummers, naturally.
Vega, Jeff, & the GADDfather are no-brainers.
Also Londin, Crampf, Schaeffer, Schwartzberg, JR, Aronoff, Layton [on those SRV recordings], Curry, & another is John Molo of Bruce Hornsby & also surviving Grateful Dead members' fame...the list goes on...
This thread was originally a commentary about a DONATI clinic.
[Whether or not he's your cup-o-java], there's no denying Donati's a total bad-arse at what it is he prefers to do.
SO maybe he doesn't have "Gadd's Grooove" [that's why his name's Donati & not G-a-d-d]; or maybe the drums are *a LITTLE* at the forefront...get used to it. It ain't goin' away.

Ill say it again:
For Vrigil, playing "tradicional" drumming is BORING!
He said it many times. He wants to go where no other drummer has been...and thats what he is doing.
Im I the only one that sees that? Or are you all so arogant and blind to think there is only one way to play drums?
Cesar
I love Steve and I love Virgil.
There is nothing wrong, with having
both of these incredible players in
the world at the same time.
Virgil is an asset to us all. Make
no mistake.

Thank you, PC & CS. Ditto that.
