Vinnie...again

Just came across these words of wisdom in an archive posting in rec.music.makers.percussion group, about the Vinnie Vs the rest debate -ignored all the name-calling and 'he's not as fast as ...:

Oh lord how I agree! I cant get enough of Vinnie atm, why at the moment, I dont think I ever could!

vinnie is a man of gung-fu... a master of his craft and creation. vinnie plays truth. so many drummers fall so short... speed is an exercise, drum licks are patterns to practice. creation is something else entirely.

Vinnie is a great combination of groove and technique and taste. He's always interesting and he's got so many licks that he always sounds fresh.

He's can be as fast as anyone, can groove hard, has extreme passion, has killer independence, and he will put synchopations & accents where most drummers could never, except for a 'handful' at his level...he even scares the BEST of drummers...& like Garfield said, "he plays most every gig like the place is on fire - like it's going to be his last."
And he was playing like this 26 YEARS AGO ['78], AW... [img]eek.gif[/img]
He is indeed, one of the elite 'Bruce Lee's of Drumming.'
