Some recent goings on:
John Petrucci's (Dream Theater) solo record, "Suspended Animation" was released on March 1st. Yours truly beat the skins on this one. Recorded these tracks a while ago. I look forward to hearing them!
Been cutting tracks for several different artists including ex-Van Halen and Extreme frontman, Gary Cherone (with Baron Browne, bass, Steve Hunt, keys & Leo Mellace, guitar). I heard some roughs of this stuff and it's sounding great! I also did Nashville singer-songwriter, Jess Tardy's 2004 release, "Hold On". As well as tracks with Boston-based artists Caroline Goulde, Michael James, Jeff Tuohy and Sarah Blacker. I'll soon be updating my "Sounds" page to share some clips of this recent work, some of my own songs and some other treats.
Did some West Coast dates with Hiromi. Had a blast! Although the "commute" was far less than optimum. I flew from the East to West coast to perform the same day in Oakland. In a nutshell, here's how it went - a missed connector flight in Chicago, a 3 hour wait for the next flight, delayed luggage in San Francisco (including my gear!) and a missed ride from the airport to the venue! I show up with no cymbals, no sticks, no bass drum pedal, no change of clothes, an empty stomach and 1 hour 'til the doors open! The club gets all the stuff I need except sticks. So I'm rummaging through a closet back stage and find about 19 odd sticks of which only 3 were barely usable. So I call my pal and drumming GIANT, Steve Smith, who's on his way to the show, to see if he happened to have any sticks in his car. And wouldn't you know it - he had a pair of sticks with him in his car - and, I used them for the show. And the 1 hour-long show, unlike the previous 14 hours of that day, went off without so much as a hitch! Hmmm...
