Well I'm sure you've heard by now Darren did not win the Best Male Artist award, Alex Lloyd did (as was expected). Anyway I thought it was awesome that Darren was nominated!!!!! As far as I was personally concerned Darren was the BEST of all the nominees!

The ARIAs went for just over 3 hours - grrrr, my age is going to show through here when I say most of it was boring and I should have watched All Saints, lol.

Kylie Minogue had a very successful night.

    Silverchair also did well.

Rove was an excellent host and Olivia Newton John gracious as always

No comment on Holly's opening the show with Kiss Kiss!

The final award for best album was really good, although not a huge fan of Kasey Chambers I was pleased her album won over Kylie's and Silverchair's (they'd won enough!), she really deserved the award! She is too a *real* woman although her speech was *interesting*

I have edited this because in the light of day I felt what I wrote in the very early hours of this morning was somewhat cruel

Awwwwwwwwww that's a shame Darren didn't win I have to say though that I am not familiar with most of the other Australian ARIA nominees so I've no idea really who he was up against.

Never mind, there's always next year

Assures you you're not really missing anything

Alex Lloyd had a big hit with the song Amazing, which is ok but not really my cup of tea.

Lol, said it was an *age* thing!

I too admired Daniel Johns performance, he was obviously exhausted after, I'm just not keen on their music, maybe if I was a lot younger

I was a little saddened by Darren not winning, but you know, the more I thought about it the more I thought "who cares, it is only an award". I believe strongly in the power of fans and the power of performance and I don't think that any artist needs to have awards on their mantle to prove to them that they are good at what they do. They feel that within themselves and from the fans that come to their shows. And let me tell you, in Portsmouth and Bristol, Darren was feeling that. The audience was brilliant and if I had been him I think I would have broken down in tears. He can feel how the fans feel, and that is what is important.

*agrees with Laurie* awards in the end are just that.. but experiences and fans and good songs and feelings are what make it all worthwhile.

That's right Laurie From the love he must be getting from all the fans at all the shows, he must know how much he is loved and adored by us

It's a shame he didn't win although I wasn't expecting him to really - not sure why as I am not familiar with the opposition!

However I totally agree with the sentiment about the fans. We are famous for loving him so much....the other night on the radio I heard a DJ plugging the second Wolverhampton gig and saying it was bound to be a great night as "his fans absolutely adore him". If a DJ can see it, I am damn sure Darren can too!
