Usually we get up around 9am or so and start the day off with some champers and some nice bits for brekky. When the kids were younger they had these gigantic stockings that were made for them which were so big they could actually fit inside them! They were lovely cos they were personalised and decorated with their names. Guess how much filling with pressies they took! Anyway normally we now just sit round the tree after breakfast and open up all our presents. About 12pm the rellys descend upon us for the day and we have some more champers and some canapes while the Turkey is cooking. We normally sit down to a Xmas lunch around 2-3 pm and that goes on until late afternoon. We either then go out for a walk depending on the weather or sit around the telly and watch the crappy old films lol or play some board games. About 8-9pm we have some supper and a load more to drink and then when the rellys have left we have some more to drink LMAO and then collapse into bed around midnight and then get up to do it all over again on Boxing Day around at the in-laws.

When the kids were much smaller, we used to have this little ritual of putting out a glass of wine or brandy and some mince pies for Santa Claus and a couple of apples for his reindeers on Xmas Eve just before they went to bed. I used to do this when I was a little girl at home with my sister and it's sort of a family tradition that I've kept up. I put up a crib that was made for me when I was little by my uncle who is no longer with us. It's decorated with little fairy lights and I always enjoyed arranging the little figures inside. Mind you these days, Robbie comes along and unarranges them into some rude positions - typical! I really miss the days of when the kids were little cos their faces on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day were a sight to behold

Sometimes we get invited out to friends on Xmas Eve for drinks and nibbles and we always go to a party on New Years Eve and this year we will be doing the same. That usually last until about 5am!! We normally spend New Years Day in bed until about noon

We normally put some twinkling lights up on our tree in the front garden during the first week of December which makes it look really pwetty. The little kids next door love it when we do that. Our inside decorations and tree we normally do around mid December and then take the lot down on 12th Night.
