Hey all you music collectors. Universal / Mercury in Japan has just reissued The Runaways' first three albums as mini LP's.

My Japanese mini LP's arrived in the mail on Saturday. I haven't had the chance to listen to them yet, but they look fabulous. They do a real good job of invoking a feel for the old vinyl LP format by copying almost identically everything the original LP had. This means both The Runaways and Live In Japan are gatefolds. They also have reproduced all the inserts included with the original LP releases like the lyrics sheets and photos. Live In Japan has all five picture biography inserts too!

They are put out by UNIVERSAL MUSIC - UMUSIC JAPAN - and called Punk New Wave Paper Sleeve Collection. The release date on the OBI strip says 06-4-26 which is April 26, 2006. They are something to consider adding to your collection.

Now I have to take them for a spin. Oh, and the disc itself is cool too. While not being a picture disc of the band, it is a faithful reproduction of the original Mercury paper label in the center of the LPs. Brings back a lot of nostalgic memories for us old timers who actually remember vinyl.
