What exactly is Du-beat-e-o? I first heard of it about a year ago and from what little I read about it...it seems it was pretty much a 'direct to video' release. The article I was reading kind of implied it was a re-edited version of "All Crazy Now." I've never seen where the video was available for rental or purchase. (Not even on EBAY!!!) Has anyone seen Du-beat-e-o? Is it worth trying to track down a copy?

I've seen it, and trust me, you don't want to. Technically, it is not a different version of Weer All Crazy Now. The Du-beat-e-o I saw was perhaps among the worst things I've ever seen, and Joan's only parts are some live bits thrown into the mix. But for more on that, I'll leave to Hawkeye, since she knows more about this particular piece of history than I do. She should be back online next week sometime if not sooner, so check back.

The film Du-Beat-e-o released in 1984, spliced in the unreleased material shot for the film We're All Crazy Now (1979) with the new stuff about Ray Sharkey making a movie about Joan Jett. The film We're All Crazy Now was supposed to be based on the Runaways, but Joan Jett was the only one that participated and the project was never completed. Other actresses play the rest of the band. If you're a Jett fan you'll want to see the classic footage and fast forward through the bad stuff. Du-Beat-e-o was released straight to video in 1984 and still shows up on eBay periodically. Epionions.com com shows where you can buy used copies. Click on the yellow "Check Latest Price" buttons. Lowest price is at Amazon.com $22.43.

Classic tunes from Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna's first collaboration appear in Du-Beat-e-o and were not released until 1995 on the CD '1979'.
