    wolfpits,
i was thinking about this today while listenin to the live in Columbus, OH 2005 show in the car. what line-up did they use for their "barbershop quartet"? who was singing, and was Danny McGough involved at the time? personally, i think Brent is a better singer and bass player over Maurer (no disrespect to him, but it's just a personal preference).

it wasnt really a barber shop quartet. it just had that feeling. it was basically starting the song off accapella with the lead and backup vocals without the music. i think it was matt freeman at the time if im not mistaken. i sounded really good though.

Nah, it was Brent at that point; I was at that show. I saw them with Freeman the previous fall- now there's something to tell my grandkids about!

hey painwillbemymotivation, your confused man. Im talking about a show they did several years ago at the house of blues in anaheim, not the Columbus 2005 show.

Hottroder82 - I agree with you on Brent being a better bassist/upright bass player/harmony singer than Johnny Maurer. Mauer was good, but not great like Brent. You can clearly hear how powerful Brent can sing when he sings backup, not to mention that he can play the upright bass like a motherfucker too which I would love to see Social Distortion break it down rockablly/acoustic style just to change the live show up a little bit. What are ya'lls thoughts on that?

    Glenn-
sounds like we have similar taste. Brent doin upright bass and dancin around on top of that thing during "Shame On Me" would be pretty cool. now i wish that i had played upright bass in middle school band instead of trumpet! it looked nerdy to me in 4th grade so i said no way...now i wish i would've started it.

The best bands are incredibly smooth when the F-up so you really don't notice too much.

But yeah, even great bands certainly have brain farts.

I could see how mike would mess up the verses to
"story of my life" I do it all the time when im playin that song acoustic and its such an easy song.

I was at a Portland, OR show about a year ago and Mike came out and said ""Hello Seattle""..

    Crickets......

Raptor, that reminds me of a quote from Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio. He was talking about a show they did in Allentown, and how when he was up there, he couldn't remember if it was Allentown or Allington. So he just kept saying, "Hello Allentaaaaaa"!
