If i had to guess what happened to Derek I would say that Mike probably just didnt want him there. He's a good drummer regardless, but its known that Mike doesn't really like the guy. Listen to the to commentary on Another State of Mind and Mike is saying he used to look at Derek and be like "what're you doing here? fuck, oh yeah you're in my band."
If Mike Ness didnt want Derek there then he probably wouldnt have joined him on tour in the first place. If you ever met Derek O'brien then you will realize that he is one of the most stand-up guys you will ever meet and one of the most professional musicians you could ever ask for.
I have met him.
I've never met him but I think it was pretty nice of him to fill in for a few days whatever is going on. Odd with the big announcement we wasn't there long, but really none of my business.

He kind of stood out of the band because he was like mid thirty or something and the rest of the band was like 60 years old. I was at the NYC show last night, and I will say that I thought Dave Raven was very sharp, especially given that he just joined the band.
