Let's take a look at some of the "good judgment" the Bush administration has
shown in the war on terror:

- Diverting troops and attention toward Iraq and away from the hunt for bin
Laden.

- Initial opposition to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security.

- Failure to adopt the recommendations of the 9/11 commission regarding a
national intelligence director. The Bush plan gave the position no real
authority.

- Reliance on the Terror Color Wheel, which has shifted based on four year old
intelligence, and sometimes shifts for no publicly discernible reason at all.

- Squandering international goodwill in the wake of 9/11.

- Complete endorsement of the Patriot Act, which allows for "sneak and peek"
searches. (Remember when Attorney General John Ashcroft said librarians suffered
from "baseless hysteria" when they opposed this?)

The public deserves a substantive policy debate on the issue of terrorism.
Unfortunately, the Bush campaign is unwilling to engage in one - They'd much
rather sling fear and mud instead.
