It's actually a piece of merchandise that was sold(I'm not sure if it is still being sold) by Planned Parenthood, so that women who had abortions could proudly display that fact while at the same time working to preserve a woman's right to choose by forcing the issue of abortion "into the forefront of social debate."

While I think that the premise is pretty lame (the hanger works far better), I do after reading their purpose understand the point they were trying to make. They state,

"Planned Parenthood's purpose in selling this T-shirt was to remind everyone that abortion policy affects real people and that guaranteeing safe and legal abortion is critical to our rights and our health. The T-shirt helps to subvert the insidious silence that surrounds abortion and the shame that anti-choice extremists try to create around these personal choices and women who make them."

It should be noted that the t shirt wasn't specifically made for people who had abortions, not all pro-choice activists have had an abortion. The shirt was made to raise eyebrows and in my opinion to get across this message in four words,

"This is for you assholes that bomb abortion clinics, this is for all of you that call people who have abortions murderers, I am pro-choice, I have the right to be, and I am proud to be able to without shame protect the rights and privacy of my fellow Americans."

You don't really wish people were forced to wear that as a badge of shame do you???

    "haha, I wish"

Maybe I should turn my sarcasm receptor on.

No, that's not what I meant. I figured you percieved the picture to be some stupid joke that some Georgian would post on Free Republic right below their Confederate flag. I would rather see a horrible joke than an actual item being sold.

If I were a woman, I'd be scared shitless if I tried to walk around with one of those on (probably why there isn't an accomanying bumper sticker).

While I completely agree that those who have to have abortions for whatever reason should not be made to feel shameful, I think that trying to turn the act into something to be proud of is completely horrendous. I should probably clarify that I am not pro-life because for valid medical reasons, abortions can be life-saving. However, I don't really associate with the pro-choice side either(as you can see).

    Reasons I support Kerry:

He will work every day to get health insurance to all Americans.

He will work every day to protect Social Security.

He will work every day to keep jobs at home.

He will work every day to bring the world community together to achieve lasting peace in Iraq.

He will work every day to restore the US to Clinton's level of economic prosperity, bringing the end of the national debt within sight.

He will work every day to reduce and eventually eliminate US dependence on foreign oil.

He will work every day to actually fund schools, unlike Bush's abuse of the No Child Left Behind Act. Kerry won't just test and then ignore, he will fund and rehabilitate.

He will work every day to maintain a woman's right to choose.

He will work every day to make college more affordable for people like me.

He will not work every day according to the PNAC doctrine of globalization.
He will "work" to do these things? Exactly what will he do? What is his plan? Wait, he doesn't have one! Blahhhhh make rich people pay more taxes!! Promise the world. Vote for me, don't ask how I'm gonna do these things.

"He will work every day to get health insurance to all Americans."

Privatizing health insurance and taking it off the backs of employers will lower costs of it. Then people can work every day for themselves to get it. People can do that you know (work for theirselves). Raising taxes to fund healthcare and lower premiums is not the answer. The gov't already has a four trillion dollar budget, and I will say this over and over again. That is enough money to solve all the friggin problems of health care, education, you name it. The problem isn't funds, its the way things run.

"He will work every day to protect Social Security."

Why? This is a system that was needed a long time ago to support people that devoted a large majority of their youth to service for their country. There is no reason why people of the last few generations can't afford for their own retirement other than people have forgotten how to save and want the gov't to do it for them. Not to mention its a system that doesn't fucking work anymore and is a waste of tax dollars. Its not neccessary. People can do shit for themselves, we have to accept that.

"He will work every day to keep jobs at home."

Step one, ask Teresa to move all those Heinz factories into the US and stop outsourcing millions of jobs. The reason there are tax cuts on jobs outsourced is because the import/export rate of going out of the country rapes you. For a lot of businesses, its cheaper to produce outside of the country b/c they offer better rates, Teresa knows this. All that means is that American companies need to step it up and provide better prices and product. Ok, take away the tax cuts if you want. But Kerry wants to give tax cuts to jobs that stay in the country. Personally, I think whoever can do the best job for the best rate should get the business, regardless of where it is. Otherwise, you have companies not giving the best product for the best price getting business and putting out shitty product and that hurts us in the end.

"He will work every day to bring the world community together to achieve lasting peace in Iraq."

This one I agree with. He probably would deal a bit more diplomatically than Bush. But at the same time its undeniable that Kerry is a bit wishwashy on his stance on things of this sort and that its a hell of a lot easier to come in and criticize what someone has done when he wasn't the one that had to deal with it. For example, what Kerry says about Bush reading a book to kids on 9/11 NOW is: "I would have told those kids very polietely and nicely that the President of the United States had something to attend to and I would have attended to it!" -August 5th, 2004.

But what he said on July 8th of 2004 when reflecting on Sept 11th was "We watched the second plane come into the building, and we shortly there-after sat down at the table and then we realzied NOBODY COULD THINK, and then boom right behind us we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon." While I agree that he would proabably deal more diplomatically, I also think he discredits what Bush has done more than is fair and that his claims that he'd deal with the war so much better don't really convince me. He uses 9/11 as a platform more than Bush does.

"He will work every day to restore the US to Clinton's level of economic prosperity, bringing the end of the national debt within sight."

I already addressed this in my previous post.

"He will work every day to reduce and eventually eliminate US dependence on foreign oil."

Really? What's the plan? He's going to work every day. Nice. What's he going to DO? Bush has 1.7 billion dollars invested in research of a hydrogen based fuel source.

"He will work every day to actually fund schools, unlike Bush's abuse of the No Child Left Behind Act. Kerry won't just test and then ignore, he will fund and rehabilitate."

So if you test a kid to ensure he is ready to move on to the next grade and he fails while others pass, that means that the school needs more money? Not that the kid needs to buckle down and maybe a parental unit that is behind him and pushing him to do so? Sure, more funding to crappier schools is great. Find a way to do it with the four trillion dollars the gov't already has to work with rather than raising taxes. But I will actually address this further in one of your next comments.

"He will work every day to maintain a woman's right to choose."

Totally and completely agree with this hands down. Its where I disagree with Bush the most. And gay marriage, but Kerry unfortunately won't have the balls to legalize it either. But you're right on this, he would fight for abortion. Not on the top of the list of important issues of this election for me though.

"He will work every day to make college more affordable for people like me."

Once again, what will he do? If the answer is "fund it", meaning taking money out of tax payers pockets to do it, I once again say find a way to do it with the four trillion dollars you already have. My solution once again is privitize all education. So just like anything else, people choose where their money goes. No one will pay for shitty schooling. If its all privitized there is competition and prices will go down and quality will rise, just like everything else runs.

"He will not work every day according to the PNAC doctrine of globalization"

I have to claim ignorance on this one and ask what the "PNAC doctrine of globalization" is cuz I honestly don't know what it stands for.

Okay, I just skimmed your post and it seems to me as if you just plain and simple don't agree with any of Kerry's issues. It makes perfect sense for you to say, "I will not vote for Kerry because I do not agree with his issues." It makes absolutel y no sense to say that he has no issues. You are a far right conservative. You believe in privatization of every sector of society and believe in the rich superiority to the poor. You think that whoever can grab the most amount of money at the cost of others' lives should be perfectly able to. You shouldn't vote for John Kerry, he is not the man for you. However, for many others, these issues really hit home.

If you want clarification, I just gave an outline, you can check out JohnKerry.com.. I'll give you a preview.

    On healthcare:

Cut the Cost of Prescription Drugs
The Kerry-Edwards plan will reduce prescription drug prices by allowing the re-importation of safe prescription drugs from Canada, overhauling the Medicare drug plan, ensuring low-cost drugs, and ending artificial barriers to generic drug competition.

    Cut Waste And Inefficiency
Today, approximately 25 percent of health care costs are wasted on paperwork and administrative processing. The Kerry-Edwards plan harnesses American ingenuity to cut waste, save billions, and take new steps to ensure patient privacy.

    On college:
Make College Affordable For All And Expand Lifelong Learning
As president, John Kerry will offer a fully refundable College Opportunity Tax credit on up to $4,000 of tuition for every year of college and offer aid to states that keep tuitions down. And he will launch a new effort to ensure that all of our workers can get the technical skills and advanced training they need.

The info is all there, you just have to want to find it.

As for PNAC, if you read this, and still support Bush, then I cannot help you.http://www.newamericancentury.org/st...principles.htm

That information was out there too, but it's just a matter of the desire to find the facts. Calling someone a flip flopper or having no issues is ridiculous if you don't go out there and find the right information yourself.

One more thing, I would like you to describe to me how you think Social Security works, how much is payed to FICA, and how the government uses the money. I know how it works, I just want to make sure you do.
