Ok I just heard these guys, and i am really digging this shit. The voice bothers smoe but i kinda like it.

People can say what they want to about it but it's a fucking unique voice.

Also i wanna add i think this band is gonna be the next big thing over here and hopefully change alot of shit and when i say shit i do mean shit.

They remind me of Queen, The Who and Van Halen (Roth era) amongst a few other bands.

Anyways anyone have any thoughts , suggestions, ideas or some spare eyeliner?

Btw They are at 39 this week on the charts at the rate they are going they will hit #1 and be a platinum selling band.

There's about 100 threads about them on the sludge gossipboard at the moment. I hope they make it big in the States....and stay there.

Maybe they bore you because, there are alot of good metal and glam bands overthere that can chart and go platinum.

We have nothing over here and it takes a band like this to change things

i can name off a few bands from Europe right now. You people do have a better music scene over there.

You won't see any metal or glam acts chart over here.

If you say so.
Anyway, you asked for opinions on The Darkness, you got mine.

How would you describe The Darkness then, now they've charted over there?

Now kids, let's get along.

I would describe The Darkness as a band with some great tunes, but with some of the worst vocals to ever show up on any form of recorded medium. His voice could be really could, if he would just drop the falsetto. I grew up on Queen, and they were the first band I was obsessed with. When I first heard The Darkness, and saw the video, I fell for the "they're like a modern Queen". Then I decided to put on my Queen discs again, and to even mention the two bands in the same breath means that people have forgotten what Queen really was like.

The Darkness will be gone within two years, and in 10 people will be looking back at the pictures and saying "OH MY GOD!!! Do you remember these guys!?! What the hell were we thinking!?!"

Keep in mind also, I kind of like them. They have worn a little on me since I first heard them, but I will hold off my complete judgement until the next album is released, which I fully expect to suck.

So, they've 'grown on ya', Carl? Yeah, their cd is rather hit and miss. The ballads are good but then anybody (with the exception of Tigertailz, of course) can write a good ballad. Black Shuck is awful. Some of the rest is sub standard. I can see the scenario you outlined happening. Or, maybe they become the next Beatles Okay, maybe not.

All I've heard (and seen) so far is 3 songs they did live on VH1, and the video for "I believe in this thing called love". I find it to be pretty good so far, if for nothing else, some originality in today's music. I really hope they do become big in the US, because maybe, just maybe some of the record labels might start looking around for something different than everything else, or similar to Darkness. I think the music seems pretty decent, but yeah, the falsetto might get old quick.....but the main thing is that they are different than anything else out there, and I hope it spawns a new wave of something different, because I'm bored with what's generally on the radio/ tv.

Actually, they've been wearing out their welcome. At first I really liked 'em a lot. Now though, I never listen to the disc anymore and I am finding them a little tiresome. It is either that they are just that way, or I am backing off of them due to the rising popularity, which isn't all that odd for me to do.
