Michelle and i are sitting on the couch, not too close, but not close enough. our arms are touching, or maybe that's just body heat, but she hasn't moved away so i'm not moving away. there's nothing good on tv, but we're watching it anyway, the dark room bathed in the washed out light of a Laverne & Shirley rerun. at commercial, i glance over at Michelle at the same instant as she is bathed in a deep blue glow. unconsciously, she pushes her hair behind her ear as she frowns at the screen, a commercial for something cheap and overpriced?the kind with the dark blue screens at their conclusion with the price that ends in 9.95 and the address for a p.o. box in Libertyville. as her brow creases, i realize that this is it, this is the mythical moment everyone speaks about. i lean in closer, try to swallow down my jangling nerves, lick my lips. she looks at me as i shift, as i close in, and as she realizes what i'm about to do the look on her face changes from frowning boredom to wrinkled concern to, as i'm mere inches from her face, utter disgust. with the stale taste of her held breath on my tongue, i lean back at the last second, but the damage is already done.

I think you should take out, "at the last second, but the damage is already done." But otherwise, it's great the way it is. Nothing wrong with short stuff (double-entendre? ye be the judge)
take care
