Not one word passed the entire ride home. Twenty minutes on the highway and another 15 in town, I pulled up into her driveway.

Before she could get out...

"I wasn't kidding when I asked you out, you know."

She sighed heavily and looked out her window. She turned to me, sucked in a deep breath and held it, about to say something. Then she shook her head and exhaled sharply. Getting out, she walked around my car.

"Hey, I don't think I'm going to be able to give you a ride tomorrow."
"That's fine, I'll figure something out." She didn't even turn to face me as she talked, she just kept on walking.
