[crazy a]

if you really want to hear one,
take a heart, any heart,
yours, your neighbor's,
your lover's, it doesn't matter,
any heart will do,
take that heart
full of red-black blood
and weave it into the strings
of a piano, as many strings
as you can stretch the heart,
and when it's in there
sit down on the little bench
and play the keys
or if you don't know how to do that
just pound the keys with your fists,
make those little hammers hit
until the hammers and strings
and keys and your fingers
are covered in blood,
until the blood drips through
the piano bottom and puddles onto
the floor.
keep playing until
that heart is beaten to shreds
then pull them out of the strings
and throw them away
and find another heart
and play another song.

this is just cruel.

and i love it.

it's like taking someone's heart and throwing it onto the interstate and watching it get run over and over and over again....blood splatters with the likes of pollock's brush strokes....

i dig yr idea of playing a heart.

one thing i was thinking...

what if you actually had a song in there?
maybe a love song, or a hate song?
like actually throw the bar in there?

or would that be too much...

i think you should decide if you are gonna play the heart or hammer the keys?

no option, unless you want this to be an option for the reader...

but nonetheless...

I don't wish to sound like a cruel heartless bastard, but this was inspired by those "Heartsongs" poetry books by that kid (now deceased). I was angry that he got 3, 4 books of light kiddie poetry out and I had a nice collection of rejection slips by my typewriter. It became a case of "You want a heartsong? Here y'go...".
