These four walls -
Not identical - but similar in
Material, color, texture, feel,
Once held me in so I felt strangled.
I fought against them and
felt motionless -
paralyzed.
Now, they remain standing as
My saving grace.
These walls are not a prison -
they are my home.
For two years I've learned the ways of this home,
I have met it's people -
partook in it's games -
walked it's halls -
and drank from it's womb.
It has held me, as any mother would,
Close and with care.
But now, like a bird from a nest,
It is my time to go.
My only fear is that my wings will not flap,
And I shall fall forever,
Until I hit the end.
