Hi,

i've just stumbled across this forum so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.

I've been writing poetry for a while but only recently had the guts to go public!

anyhow.. here's one i wrote earlier...

Still Wake Up

inhale into my lungs
Feeling the craving dim
Watching the plume streaking
From my mouth in the dark by the
light of my television,
No longer thinking about
Money as when you have none it
no longer seems important. living
an inch above absolute poverty
never knowing where the next
paycheck is going to come from
Having to make the choice between
cigarettes and food and somehow
cigarettes always winning the bet
makes you think about what is really
important looking at your life
as you slowly sink lower and lower.
Drinking cheap red wine stolen from
the corner store smoking molboro
cigarettes from a red pack in a puddle
of blood and vomit laying on your
back on your bed with cum stained sheets
watching the moths circling your light;
40 watts of power and dimming about to
explode. On the Television impossibly
perfect people swan around like i don't
exist, in another country people of importance
drop dead for having the wrong political views
and me, i sit and i drink and smoke to get to
sleep and pray that in the morning i
still
wake
up.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That part was the best bit in the peice I think.. the closing really stood out.
Originally, i thought the peice a little lackluster,
but reading it over again, it flows so well, that I think it's actually a pretty good work.
