Vice President for Human Resources

The mission of the Children?s Village is to provide a safe haven and caring community for those in need and to heal and strengthen troubled children and families through individualized treatment, education, research, and sharing of information. Founded in 1851, The Children?s Village today is one of the most highly regarded child welfare agencies in the country, serving approximately 1000 children (and their families) in residential programs and more than 10,000 in community based settings. Among the array of programs and services The Village provides are: residential treatment and crisis intervention on its Dobbs Ferry campus; and emergency shelter, street outreach and transitional living program for runaway and homeless youth in Westchester County; pre-adoptive, foster, and group homes throughout the metropolitan area; intensive in-home services to maintain seriously mentally ill children safely at home; and the Work Appreciation for Youth (WAY) program, a nationally replicated award-winning program.

As a member of the senior management team, the Vice President for Human Resources is responsible for all Human Resource functions for a complex agency with a variety of medical, professional, administrative and support levels of employees. The position requires the capabilities and leadership to promote a diverse work force culture and environment. The Vice President will also be responsible for the management of a department of 4 - 6 employees and for maintaining and developing a team which promotes ?best practice? programs and administrative functions consistent with the agency?s philosophy and policies. In addition, this position will provide executive level input and participation in the overall leadership of the agency, including strategic planning and setting and monitoring agency goals and objectives.

We seek an accomplished executive in human resources management whose understanding, experience and achievements have prepared them for the unique and diverse culture of The Children?s Village. The person must be ready to provide leadership in a comprehensive employee relations program and to join with the other members of the Executive Team in building on historical successes in the recruitment and retention of all levels of employees.

The successful candidate will have a strong leadership profile in developing ?best practice? programs and a track record of working successfully in diverse work force environments. The work experience of the candidate will clearly demonstrate the capabilities and understanding to work in the complex program environment of The Village, as well as possessing the insight and depth of providing human resource leadership support to an organization which has a $ 40 million budget and 600 employees. The candidate will be able to demonstrate the capabilities and desire of being a working executive in addition to effective delegation and monitoring of work responsibilities.
