Position is full-time, days, 8a to 4:30p. Completion of AHMIA accredited HIT course/ RHIT eligible/ RHIA/ CCS. Strong hospital inpatient coding skills and knowledge of DRGS. Ability to work as part of a flexible dynamic team. Basic knowledge of Windows 95 or Windows NT important. Accurate data entry, word processing, analytical thinking skills. Interpersonal communication skills. Applies the principles of coding, UHDDS, clinical standards, Medicare requirements, and knowledge of prospective payment systems to the selection of correct ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-9-CM and CPT procedure codes. Abstracts established data from each case, as directed in the abstracting procedure. Works with the regional business office and access services to correct errors and resolve billing questions. Covers all three Portland-area facilities and may be called upon to assist with coverage at other PHS facilities in Oregon. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy. Minimum $14.25/hr to Maximum $20.48/hr.
