Just got into a big confusion with the us way of posting dates ( mm-dd-yyyy). Why isn't it a more logical system like the european one, using dd-mm-yyyy, in ascending order?

i agree that it would be better to adopt the
alternate system rather than what we use now.

in some countries, people speak month first and then day, so for them, it would be logical for mmddyy but in english, it is spoken ddmmyy so therefore the american way of doing it is plain gay.
i find it kind of strange that the US, the country people call the new roman empire still adopts such old systems, eg empirical rather than metric etc.
33 years of doing it one way..and my aussie hubby comes in and screws me all up..i cant get the dates right with him..*LOL*

me nor the person on the other line is going
to say:
"i'd like to book my appointment for the third of september."
or
"how does the fifteenth of march sound?"
instead... its usually said:
"i need to make an appointment for january twenty-eigth." and so on....
its not that i disagree... for i do find it more
systematic to put the month prior to the day of
the month
