well, did you read that article that you posted above...(not in the reply quote), i did not, but i did read the conclusion, and from what i understand, it is possible to make a random number as random as you want, using different functions. most of the theories that were tested made guessing a random number impossible up into the millions of iterations. by randomizing a number, then using that random number as the base of the next randomization, and using that random number as the loop variable to determine how many times to randomize and then that random number....
i feel totally secure thinking that there are that many ways, and that many numbers to randomly choose from. the way i see it, it isn't so much how random the number is, as with today's super computers, it would be almost just as easy to "test" all of the numbers in a sequence, rather than trying to figure it out.
and like shatzy said, with hackers today, security is much bigger than just "picking a random number"
and my apologies for the "C" argument, I was under teh assumption that since we were talking about random numbers, i made a post about visual basic, post referring to java was mentioned, and you in reply use an argument with C, i assumed we were still talking about programming languages.

i know this thread is 2 weeks old, i don't have a problem admitting that i might be causing a problem by bringing up an old post, but still....
first, i just noticed the subject line and how it related to the topic.....i remember first reading the subject line and expecting this to be a bean scene type thread where everyone just posts random stuff......

given, but if you were documenting after the fact would you then be like pulp fiction and re-arrange it to your liking and not in the order it happened?
And he had to rest. You think women are hard to figure out... try making one. ( )
