another brain teaser

Jon, as we will call him for the purpose of the teaser, lives in a very tall apartment complex in New York City. He lives on the 37th floor of the building. (if you would like to know, there are 40 floors, so he does not live in the penthouse).

On some days, Jon can ride the elevator all the way to his floor, the 37th floor.

On days that it is raining, Jon can go all the way to the 25th and then he must walk the stairs to make it to his floor, the 37th floor.

On all other days, he can only ride the elevator to the 10th floor, and then walk the stairs to make it to his floor, the 37th floor.

Why is this so?

because john, being in a good mood from the good weather feels up for a little challenge and tries the stairs to run around etc..

and when it rains, he feels down and decides that he doesn't want to walk the stairs, and wants to get home quickly. he stops a few floors before his own because the lift only goes up to that floor.

OR

the elevator is on the outside and the weight of the water on the elevator makes it too heavy to go up to the upper floors?

hmm, either way, these replies can tell a lot of people i think.

er...gravy, my man...when you say 'some' of the days, does that include the ' all' other days? or are you saying all the other days that are not rainy or 'some'?

Well, I have struggled to come up with a fairly logical explanation, but I could only stumble upon some rather funny ones (though valid).
I guess Jon is a midget and cannot reach the button to the floor, unless
1) Someone else does this for Jon (some days)
2) he uses an instrument (on a rainy day, an umbrella would be fine for that).

Now that I am thinking it over, there connot be any other explanation.....
...(rushes out, to apply candidacy for a Nobel, an Oscar, a Pulitzer, anything)

You people praise doodoo for that pathetic answer? Jon being a midget is the most obvious answer in existance. Needing an umbrella to hit the button? What the phuck is that? Why not just pick up a long stick little John? Are you that stupid? Or better yet, move to a ground level apartment ya little dwarf! Hell, some people have been know to use the stairs for exercise you fat bastard Jon!

If "Jon is a midget" is the answer to this "brainteaser" then I will be very disappointed. Please gravytain...let it be known that there is some other explanation for Jon's elevator dilemma's.

Well, Shatoushka, i am sorry i was not able to reply timely enough to explain my post. z06, i also apologize to you, because doodoo did in fact get the correct answer, and he got the correct answer first.

DooDoo, i would award you a prize if i had one, a trophy of some sort. i will have to look into that. or maybe even a ribbon would do the job. i think a ribbon would be best.

oh, and z06, please do not allow your ignorance to be expressed in such a demeaning manner. i feel that there are many other ways in which to express your feelings, yoga possibly.

Seems to me, our midget hero would wait on the bottom floor, enter the elevator when someone else is present, and ask them to push number 37 or.....else.

Either our friend goes all the way up the elevator, or walks from the ground floor to the 37th floor.

No in betweeners.
