thanks to a certain special someone, i ask this question (and more...) :
are there any sorts of actions a good person would never do?
i think this is a trick question. i also think that if this question were valid, it would certainly remain unanswerable.
what do you guys think?

Not that I see this going off on some long cliched tangent or anything but...
A good person would believe that they're better than god if they don't believe in God and are under the impression that anything is better than nothing.
A good person would also believe that they're better than god if they believe that God is evil.

ethics once more shatoushka?
as far as to your question, i'd say no.
i think ethics are a personal system, my ethics can differ from my neighbours, and they'll certainly differ from someone with a different religion/moral code/ etc...
so concluding from that i'd say there is no fixed moral code that says that _this_ is good, and _that_ is bad, only my own which would say that meaning that depending on his ethics the person could find himself good and yet do anything there is.
(this may sound like garbled ethics, but from his viewpoint it all adds up even though other think it's wrong)
and next to that, who decides what is a 'good' person? that's still someones ethics too.
i'll just say, seeing how ethics are not absolute, i doubt the whole concept of good is undefined too.

well, you know me.
i dunno.
ethics, to me, is one of the most highly interesting areas of philosophy. i can't describe why.
and i really loooooooove thread killa's post.
especially the cynical line:
something is better than nothing.
i just had to chuckle.
as far as i'm concerned, killa can post anytime.

a charming poem for just an occasion:
Mock on, Mock on, Voltaire, Rousseau;
Mock on, Mock on, 'tis all in vain.
You throw the sand against the wind,
And the wind blows it back again.
And every sand becomes a Gem
Reflected in the beams divine;
Blown back, they blind the mocking Eye,
But still in Israel's paths they shine.
The Atoms of Democritus
And Newton's Particles of light
Are sands upon the Red sea shore,
Where Israel's tents do shine so bright.
~~Blake
that poem irritates me.

Aside from that, just because you believe that God is evil, doesn't make it so, it just makes you, well, don't know you, but the word 'demented' comes to mind!
You can believe in whatever you would like, cause God permitted that!
