there is nothing forcing me to sit in front of this computer or type these letters. i am choosing to do so.
i will grant that we are not totally free (i.e. i cannot just jump up in the air and fly away, nor can i survive very long if i do not drink), but i can choose what to drink or to not drink at all and die.
i would type more, but i am going to exercise my free will and go to class that is about to start. there will be more on this later.

But do you believe that there is an omnipotent god?

Of course dear! Don't get upset! There is so much free will around, that I often think it gets annoying! The good thing is we all have free will. The bad thing is some of us want more, thus taking out some of the rest's.

Actually, if there is an omnipotent god, there can be no free will.
If there is any god actually that 'knows the future'... because in there being a future, there can be no free will.
Thus the illusions... you may THINK your choosing to type the letters, when in reality, your 'god' knew exactly what you were going to be typing.

well, if he's omnipotent, why is he bound to causality then?
and besides that, i think you know my idea on free will, even if it's determined, it's still my will that does it.
The free will you are describing is the free will that does everything randomly, no connection to any outside world, just a brain without any personality, senses or perception for that matter.
Take this example : i see some bill lying on the ground, a $100 bill. Now i think most people would try to pick it up, so that 'determines' their action, but it's still my decision to pick it up.
(which i will probably do, but it's still my choice, regardless if someone predicts i will do it)

God doesn't "predict" though.. any good book will tell you *by good book i mean a "bible" of some religion*
that god sees the future... he knew you were gonna pick up that 100 bill...
he saw you deciding to reach down and pick it up, that's why free will is such a great illusion..
because you still think that amidst this "chaos" your deciding something, when if you believe in any religion, your god already knows what your gonna do, when yoru gonna do it, and how your gonna do it...
Thus-no free will...
Of course, i have stumbled upon a unique theory, about god, and what happened... etc...

okay, i can see that free will, the way you define it doesn't exists in a determined universe. But in my eyes (and definition) it does

Then wouldn't that make it relative?

Can you see it, guys? It's getting futile again. Fancy words like causality, free will, omnipotence blahblahbah - did you ever wonder how they are connected (if at all)?
