Don Drysdale, a hall of fame pitcher who formerly pitched for the Dodgers, was a pitching consultant for the Dodgers.

But Mr. Drysdale is ticked off that he was accused of being gay in a newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch/Fox, who also own the Dodgers.

The paper printed a retraction, but Drysdale is still so upset that he wants his name off of anything and everything Dodger, and he is not helping during spring training.

If we turn this into a societal mathematical equation we get Hall of Fame pitcher is called Gay = Angry as the first equation, then apology by the namecaller = a still angry Hall of Famer for the second equation. When I add those two equations together, I get a double insult to all gays.

If someone called you rich, and you weren't, would you be insulted? Why should someone calling you gay be an insult at all? As Jerry Seinfeld said in a Seinfeld episode after he denied being gay, "not that there's anything wrong with that" (being gay).

So Don Drysdale has now had two temper tantrums for first being called gay and then for not accepting a retraction.

But in the process, has Drysdale not insulted all gays, twice?

An interesting interpretation. Which I interpret to mean that gay people should feel sorry for Mr. Drysdale.

    hmm,

the way i see it, the 'gay' factor doesn't really enter into it. i just think it illustrates his limited and petty mentality.

So if you are correct, what next?

Just let Mr. Drysdale stew because he is a hall of fame icon?

Shouldn't someone say something to the guy, or would that be harrassing the guy?

By someone I mean someone who knows the Mr. Drysdale.
