The debate over "why" Bush's camp mislead the public over the war in Iraq has yet to find the real smoking gun.

Why did Bush and his staff have to go to Iraq so quickly? Not only did they have to beat the inclement weather elements this year, but if they waited until next year, it would have been an election year, and it would have been too risky to fight a war in an election year. Re-election propoganda strategies becomes the smoking gun behind the "16 words" that Bush spoke of during his state of the union speech. Those 16 little words spoken during Bushes state of the union address helped spur us onto war in a premature fashion.

I wouldn't care about ElectionGate if weren't for the Republicans having planned their Republican Convention on September 4th, 2004. The Republicans have scheduled their Convention as close to September 11th as possible, and that sickens me.

But when you combine starting a war under exaggerated purposes so that it can be used to ballyhoo a re-election campaign that is slated in accordance with September 11th, you have the makings of a very unethical situation. You have a double smoking gun. Rushing to War under false pretenses so the result of the war can be used in the next re-election bid of the standing president, and then planning their convention close to September 11th as possible is a double smoking gun worthy of the impeachment process.

We won't even get into how much money made off the war has made it back into Republican coffers.
