EMILY!!!!!

She's so adorable! And her accessories and outfits... too too tempting! I can only get one more doll for a while, so I'll have to be careful who I choose...Emily is definately up there, though...ooh! Another doll to choose from!

What do you all think? Will there be an Emily coming home to you anytime soon?

I know what you mean about Emily. I always felt that way about Kit. Her coloring and that of her meet outfit is just so bright and bubbly. What I really like about Molly and Emily and their collection is the fact that most of the colors involved are patriotic (red, white, and blue). Not only is it useful for Independence Day albums, but it helps to remind us of the goodness of our country and that we should be patriotic.

Sounds like you need an Emily soon. I would be hard pressed to wait for Christmas. Good for you that you can! [img]smile.gif[/img]

I would be a lot more patriotic if the country's colors were pink, purple, and blue. As such, I love Emily's Christmas dress!

There is a good chance I will be getting Emily when I go to AGPLA on September 10th. It depends upon whether or not they retire JLY dolls, though. If they retire ones I don't have, I'd prefer to get those before they're gone.

I really don't like her.

Emily is the third, and next year Ruthie will be the fourth Caucasian "Best Friend" doll. None of the Dolls of Color have had a Best Friend yet. Emily is in ONE of Molly's books and is never heard from again. Sarah is in FIVE of Addy's books (that's actually more than the number of Samantha books that Nellie is in).

If the "Sarah is poor" thing is an issue then why not make Harriet? She has pretty clothes (and they would sell well) and she and Addy seemed to be developing a friendship in Addy Saves the Day and they're both accepted at the Institute for Colored Youth to become teachers in High Hopes for Addy (and Harriet and Addy learning at the ICY would make a great story).

Really, the whole thing seems racist.

The first four dolls for AG were all white, too. This really isn't a change in the way they're doing things.

I don't think it's racist to make white dolls. Or to make more white dolls than dolls of other races. That's just what they do, probably because there are more white people than people of other races in America and white dolls might sell better. I think AG has a lot of diversity. (See the thread "Complaining about AG's Supposed "lack of diversity"). If there was a company that made all black dolls, would you call them racist for not making white dolls? (And it's not like AG makes all white dolls, either.) People who complain about AG's "lack of diversity" never seem to get enough diversity, either. They wanted an Asian AG, and got Jess. Then they move on to complaining about the friend dolls or that there hasn't been a black LE doll yet. What? Will some people not be happy until the number of dolls for all races are equal? Because 1. That's never going to happen and 2. Why should it? That's like wishing for all the races in America to be equal. Why? We're all special whatever race we are and should be proud of our race....even white people.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The side parted hair is too modern and she doesn't have any historical clothes from the books. Aside from which, her hair isn't textured like Addy's is. It's a bit like saying that JLY #22 looks just like Nellie because they're both blonde with blue eyes.
