What cracks me up is this thread has had 9 views and yet only Trav has the honor to send condolences to Ranger Tillman.

What makes Ranger Tillman's death different from the other tragic deaths in this conflict is that Pat turned down a $3.6 million dollar NFL contract, to become a soldier. He shunned interviews and publicity. Ranger Tillman exemplifies what service to country really means. Today's athletes, pop stars, and hollyweird elitest pigs should look to Ranger Tillman as an example of what loving your country is about.

    Tillman is a true hero.

PS: As a former Ranger, I guess I'm a little biased.

This is the first time I have been on the board since I head about Tillman's death.

This country has lost more than "another servicemen". It has lost a true patriot. A real loss for this nation. So sad.

    Not just a patriot Sluggo...

Pat Tillman was a celebrity, a celebrity who wasn't content to sit back and let somebody else do his fighting. Celebrities have the potential to effect millions for good or bad. Tillman's example is far too rare amongst today's celebs.

If the publicity surrounding his sacrifice can awaken a few youngsters from their self-centered slumber, then it is good publicity.

Sure, all the other casualties in theater are just as significant. But, realistically, the death of a young troop from a dairy farm in Wisconsin is not going to get the attention of thousands of potential recruits in the manner of a Pat Tillman.

I'm glad the press is covering Pat Tillman. His contributions to our nation are so much more important the bullshit of a Britney Spears, Snoop Dog, and other celebs who fill up too much time on the news.

Our young people desperately need positive role models. Pat Tillman, even in his death, serves as a very positive role model.

I confess that I was one of the early views, and didn't reply because the name meant nothing. Then I googled him, and remembered Trav talking about it.

May he and all the others rest in peace.

While I do not support the war, I have nothing but respect and admiration for our men and women over there. Nothing but pure respect for them.

RIP to Ranger Tillman, and all of our fallen soldiers.

May Matt Maulpin and any other POW's find safety and come home to their families.
