Shortly after Trav and I returned from Spain, we got a Cinergy bill in excess of $700. I thought that was a bit much, since we hadn't had the a/c on, and he'd been gone and I really don't cook much when he's away.

After talking to a marginally intelligent person who told me that it is impossible to get a special meter reading, I finally spoke with a supervisor who arranged for a reading yesterday morning, between 5 and 7 AM.

The meter reader didn't show.

I called this afternoon and read the meters to the <s>moron who answered the phone</s> customer service rep, and guess what?

We now have a credit of $23.67.

Asshats.

Aren't there laws against monopolies?

My tenant had a significant spike in her energy bills this past winter, and there seems to be no logical explanation. I put in a furnace for her specific living space two Octobers ago, so the spike should have happened then, not last winter.

Cinergy tells me the past two winters were similar, weather wise, so either there's a problem with her thermostat, the furnace, the meter reader. She claims she keeps it set on a low temp.

Somehow I am going to have to get my wife to not leave out infromation.

I got up a 4:45 and open the door and turned on the basement light, she stayed home till 7:05. We did this to be sure we didn't miss the meeter reader, but when she called later, she was told thet the meeter reader came buy and the door was locked.

Let's see, overpaied, underworked, union worker didn't perform and lied about it. Must be a liberal.

One time I had an outrageous bill and a special meter reader came out and sugested we unplug major appliances one at a time to see if it had any effect on the meter. I went and unplugged things and she stood watching the meter. It turned out the freezer I had at the time was gobbling up power like a 2 ton A/C unit running overtime. You might want to try it. One of your appliances may not be running properly and eating up power and you don't even know it.
