This appeared in the newspaper today and I felt it was an appropriate statement to be heard here.....although it seems geared for the younger player it applies to all ages...and to our coaches too.

Thanks, Coach, from those of us who learn the rules of the game along without kids, from those of us with two left feet and twice as many thumbs, from those of us who wish we had more time to play with our kids. Where would our kids be without people like you who give their time and energy?

You teach our kids about respect for the rules, the referees and one another. You teach our kids about teamwork, even when they are sitting on the bench. You teach our kids that the best man does not always win--but that you still do your best.

You teach our kids that there is no shame in losing. There has to be a special place in heaven for the patient, caring person my kids call "Coach".
