manifold

Some parts of the stove, like the value manifold, were never painted for rust protection but they seem as if they were originally coated with a clear lacquer. Does anyone know this to be true. And if it's true what type of portective coating can be sprayed on? Thanks

Hi Bill: My model B and the many Model C's that I've seen all have the valve manifold painted gloss black. I've always re-painted them high temperature gloss black. What model do you have?

Joe,

I have a model 90C, which is completely apart in my garage. Maybe I'm not calling things by their right name. What I'm refering to is the part(s) between the gas values and the chrome handles. On my stove these were not painted but looked as if they were coated in a laquer for rust proofing. When I cleaned them that coating came off and now it's bare metal. They cleaned up very well but now I don't want them to rust. My garage is unheated and since this past summer was so hot and humid many things have rusted more in the past 3-4 months than they did in the past 40 years when the stove was operational in a kitchen in Montclair, NJ.

Hi Bill,
I believe the part you're referring to is the "magazine". Hugh's Place rebuilt mine, and it looks like they sprayed it black, although it didn't look like any of the paint I've bought from a can. Maybe they'll tell you if you call them? They are generally pretty helpful.
