I recently had the propane company move my propane line, which resulted in the chambers c being red tagged because of the pressure test. The family has had the stove since it was new-- and had it recond in the early 80s. I've been using the yellow pages and working some contacts and come up with no one willing to find/fix the leak, which must be small because there is no propane odor. I'd rather not attack myself because of paranoia. Any ideas?

Was the gas to the stove off while they were doing
the test. If the gas was on to the stove there
is no way to pass a pressure test because of the
pilot light. Talk to the propane company and ask
them who did the test how it was performed and if
they took into the account that the pilot lights
would let the pressure leak.
If that was not the case is the leak between the
tank and the stove or somewhere else in the system.
The easiest and safest way to find a leak is with
the soapy water solution. See post on intermittent
leak.

Thanks for the reply. The pilots were off-- and I am an honest person and told the propane guy that when asked... now I'm eating microwaved food... The system checked out up until the shut-off valve at the stove-- so the leak is somewhere in the stove. The guys working were anxious to get out of here-- so they just capped the tank off and left. I need to get them back to turn on the gas so I can go over the fittings with soapy water. There are a finite number of fittings, so I am guessing I can find the leak-- I just feel anxious about doing any repairs myself. And as of right now, if the issue is in the valves I don't have the materials to repair.

Issy,
I have a chambers repair man in Queens, NY. He was at my home last nite making sure my "new chambers" wasn't leaking gas, etc. Unfortunately he doesn't cover Suffolk County. I asked him after I saw your post. However, he does have parts and might be able to give you advice over the phone.
His name is Paul Farella of Central Range service Corp. The numbers are 718-776-4800 and 516-794-0288. I hope this helps.
