Thankfully we dont get them that often and its only out in the country..
It's either flood or drought here in Australia..and our droughts affect the whole country and last for years..thats why we're the driest continent in the world..
We havent had a good decent flood in years though..in summertime, usually, the whole northern end of Australia goes under water..nearly a 1/3 of the country is flooded in a good flood...and Australia is only slightly smaller than the mainland of the USA..so thats a hella lot of land..

So the US has a larger surface, but a smaller coastline? Must be the borders with the north and the south then. Hmm.

Dad use to be a tourist bus driver and some of the things that the American tourists said were so bloody funny..
Most American tourist believe that Oz is only a small island..somewhat the size of Hawaii and demanded to be driven to Perth..on the other side of the island by taxi drivers..now its only a 3 day no-stop drive..5 days if you want to sleep at all..
And they believe that kangaroos hop down the main streets of Sydney..
I would have thought that if you were going to visit another land that you would at least learn something about that country so you wouldnt look like a complete idiot..
Oh and for future reference for all American tourist who may read this post..
Watch out for Drop Bears..they drop out of Gum trees and bite your ears off..viscious buggers they are..crickey!...
