It seems like it is the perfect storm for a movie.
Brand new director with major credibility in the visiul arts already (Anton Corbijn)who is one of the most famous rock photographers and cover designersd and video directors of all tim e(Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box, U2's Joshua Tree, Depeche Mode's Violator, etc). He actually knew the subject, Ian Curtis, and took some of teh most defining picture of Joy Division.
A lead actor who is also virtualyl brand psanking new, but looks and sounds like Curtis and is being priased for his insight.
The artful monochromatic cinematography which, inaddition to being lovey, helps set he mood.
The lack of a typical bio-pic subject. Ian kills himself, not really normal bio-pic faire.
Based on a biographjy of Ian written by his wife.
With a ton of Joy Division music in the movie.
It just seems like the perfect storm - all of the elements appear to make a great movie.
It may help Joy Division and New Order end up in teh Hall of Fame too, which makes me very hapy.
