    Legacy's Allure

    No, not that random old tempest wannabe control magic, the format. That's what this thread is about. So I'll get it going. Last Saturday I played a Legacy tourney at Stadium, Jacob was there rocking an Enchantress deck and I was doped up on sinus meds and couldn't reall think straight.

    There wen't many people there, but here is how my day went:

    Round One: RGW Aggros Burn.

    Ok, so this is a silly match-up. I lose the first game, but only barely, we got into a top deck war and he drew more burn than creatures. In the second game I draw my Pulse of the Fields, a Tundra and a Fetch, so it was game over as soon as Elspeth the table and he scooped after a couple turns of her fury. The final game was very similar with Elsepth ruining his plans and me running through a Jace and 3 Standstills for insane card advantage, not to mention dredging Loam for my fetches and having all the duals in my deck in play. It was... unfair.

    Round Two: Mono Black Demigod Kick my ass...

    Turn 1: He drops a pro white and black critter that pounds me until I drop a Deed which he follows with a Demigod and I die.
    Next game, double hymn on turn one... turn two Dark Ritual, pro white and black guy again and all I can draw is swords... I die.
    Final Round, I get the bye and I'm done. By this point I've gotten so dizzy from my meds I don't care.

    Looks good... here are some of the cards I have if you need to borrow them while you build it up:

    2x Curse Catcher
    4x Daze
    3x Stifle
    2x Chalice of the Void

    Was there anything else we talked about? I know I've got two Lord of Atlantis, but I have no idea where they could be. I might have some Silvergill Adepts too if you want me to look.

    I really like the idea of Cold-Eyed Selkie in the board, I totally forgot that card and I could see that being sick CA vs. a deck running blue (ie half the decks out there).

    I ended up ID'ing with the URW aggro guy (Zoo for those more in teh know). He was also my loss for the day. I ended up 2nd beating the mono-black guy that Jason got rolled by, and some guy playing some really bad thing. I did avenge Jason though, as my deck kind of just eats the mono black guy's face.

    The board was thrown together at the last minute because I forgot to do it before. I think with what was played there, the Wheel would go away for another Prison. I also think I need a 2nd Runed Halo in there somewhere. Sacred Ground wasn't that useful, but there's a guy I know who's runing around with geddon stax and it makes him cry, so it stays. Compost was mostly useless.

    BTW - Jason, this deck should eat your face.

    Cosi's Merfolk that I can;t remember the full name of is a card from Zendikar is awesome. I would think it good against decks in Legacy.

    Cosi's Trickster looks intriguing, but it's untested. As of right now, no merfolk decks seem to be running it. In some match-ups it could be a house if dropped early, however its a terrible topdeck. I'm unsure at this point if it will see play in an already tight creature list. Is it better than Cursecatcher? I would argue no, not most of the time, but we'll see.

    Well considering my deck does best against creature decks, it would at least in the first round. My current sideboard is pretty terrible against your deck, but Landstill is known for having pretty strong MU's against almost anything except 43 Land... and I seem to be lacking against whatever that black deck was. An early meddling mage or two could have made your life very difficult, but thats all conjecture since we didn't play each other so it doesn't really matter.

    Remember that after I board, I've got choke to go with the blood moon and city of solitude. I also have an extra O. Ring. That's the first Mage target btw. Then you hit Words of War then Sigil I think. Keep those off the board and pray I don't resolve a replenish and you have a chance. Deed sucks for me, but I have replenish.

    BTW - why don't you have that land that recurs artifacts? Seems good with EE.

    I'm not sure where Trickster goes, but it belongs somewhere. It's a 1 drop that will be 2/2 by the time you get to swing pretty much guaranteed. Sure, he isn't good late game, but what 1 drops can you think of that are all by themself? I have a feeling that he'll be a metagame call for a bit. I'm thinking of trying to build a turbo powered landfall deck for legacy since I've got 2 free tourney's now.

    Exploration + Horn of Greed + Crop Rotation/Harrow/Map + that blue landfall enchant to draw sounds pretty land heavy fast. Maybe add Overhyped Cobra to the mix and just play dumb stuff?
