Wow, there are so many movies on this list that suck,
The two obvious ones I question being on this list I have looked up the RT rating for and placed next to them. There are a lot here I wouldn;t even consider close to essential or must sees, like American History X or Starship Troopers. If you are aiming at the college/geek crowd, I would have expect something like Return of the Nerds on there. Why have high school films as essentials for college kids to see? Do you really thing 10 Things I hate About You or Ridgemont High will resonate with them? That these HS films are essential for college students? Similarly, do you think the office humor for Office Space will resonate with those who have not worked full time for companies?
Because of how bad it is, and high UIC factor, perhaps Mazes and Monsters. Very geek /nerd
Role Models was quite amusing and would resonate with geeks.

Green (a TRUE college must-see that no one's heard of) - RT n/a
Wristcutters: A love story (Fun movie for the film majors & Sundance crowd; time to learn not all good movies are seen in theaters) - RT 64%
Beerfest (for those who need to learn about drinking games!) - RT 39%
The Ref (best Christmas movie outside National Lampoon's Christmas ... something to watch over winter break) - RT 79%
Spirited Away (For the Anime-nerds out there;if you haven't seen, you're not a fan of Anime) - RT 97%
Eraserhead (film students need to study Lynch) - RT 90%
Harold & Kumar go to White Castle (best current college buddy-stoner film) - RT 73%
Boondock Saints (Hey.. it's Boondock Saints.. if you haven't seen it by college, you NEED to) - RT 16% (only?!? wow)
Snatch/LockStock (just must-sees for most ages) - RT 72%/71%
UHF (cult classic must-see) - RT 55%
Clerks I & II (more cult classic must-sees ... and everyone needs to see the donkey show! "I'm sorry Jesus!") - RT 86%/62%
