I have the ACT/CLuthmasters Stage III....bitch handles like a mofo, grabs great, can spin in 4th.....and my friend used to run it on his drag civic for 2 years, before it went, but that was with the equivalent of 100K miles of abuse on it!

    Thumbs up

I have a Clutchmasters S3 clutch. I hate it. The petal engagement sucks. It lasted about 150 miles. It's winter here in Chicago so I have not driven the car since Oct 99. When it get warmer I will pull the trans and fix. I hate doing clutch jobs on front wheel drive cars. The only positive thing about replacing the clutch on my Mustang was that it is much easier than my GSR.

Here is an interesting observation: I am an ACT fan... I have had one in my car since I did the Hybrid swap. My original setup was an Extreme P/P and a Street/Strip disc. This worked extremely well on the street and at the track. Last month, when I swapped in the new flywheel, I also changed the S/S disc to a 6 puc copper unit.
I got alot more chatter, and the engagement requires alot more throttle feathering to be even close to smooth... yet my 60' times at the track are EXACTLY THE SAME !!! It seems to me that unless you plan on having more than 300 ft/lbs of torque, the better choice is the S/S full face disc.

SO if I go with the ACT I should get the Street/Strip disc and their Pres. Plate, but do not use their T.O bearing. I thought everything came together?

Im am not going to attempt installing it, so how much $$$ is good for the install?

What I need: I kill the car on the streets, racing freaken MOPEDS, basically anything that has wheels! My car had 5000 miles on it when I installed the SC. The clutch started slipping at about 11000 miles. I only go to the track 6 to 10 times a year. But if I can make it there maore I would go. Is the ACT S/S full face disc good enough?

    Thanks alot!
    Jason

ACT SS disk Should be fine. I know a few guys who run them and a few who run the 6 puck. If you are all race. Go with 6 puck. If you want streetability go with the SS disk. I chose the SS disk. with Xtreme Pressure plate. You shouldnt have any problems with the SS.

    Briguy,
How did you drive on your clutchmaster. The only time I have heard of that clutch going bad so quickly was if it wan't broken in properly. Did you run the 500 - 600 miles without dogging it? I have a Clutchmaster stage 3 and have put several thousand hard miles on it and it still great.
