From a stand still, at night, do you think you could see a car's license plater at 110-140 mph?

Sure, but it would depend on whether or not you are able to move both your head and your eyes to track the car as it passed by you. It would also depend on how far away the car is from you, how well lit the license plate is by the license plate lights, what color the letters/numbers are in contrast the the license plate background, and what your best corrected vision is. 110mph = 161 feet per second. In one second the car would be over 53 yards away. I doubt if anyone could read the complete number at night, but they could at least get a partial.

That is what I figured.
btw, this was a "hypothetical" question with a "hypothetical" camaro LS1 chase car.

It's hard at 50mph.
I ride my bicycle quite a bit, and let's say a car goes by -- it's not like there's "zhe 376" instant access -- it's more like "zhe 3...hmm is that a 7 or 9, can't make out the rest...too late.
