can you actually bend your valve if you hit the rev limiter (on a gsr?)

"REV LIMITER" is just a fuel injector cut-off at set rpm limit - performed by the ECU. There's no physical object to restrict rpm or contact a valve.

I don't think its the act of hitting the rev limiter thats the problem but instead when you're at that high of rpm you're susceptible to valve float. Now your piston (physical object) may hit your valve and damage it.

what if your engine had a cel and you hit the rev limiter many times?

You're not going to bend a valve hitting the rev limiter (assuming it's stock). You're not even going to float the valves. A healthy valve train should easily support at *least* a few hundred rpm over redline.
As for bouncing off the factory rev limiter with an FI setup, it's not a good idea. It's like suddenly leaning out at redline. The damage it causes is cumulative.
