Hey there. I am running 4-15" sub s in a sub wall. The stock alternator is fine. I also have a 1 farad stiffening cap which helps out alot. The aem underdrive pulley setup I also have slows the alternator down even more but I have had no problems with power drain. No light dimming or nothing. If you want to run 2 alternators go ahead but the stock one will do. just put a stiffening cap in. Or a high output alternator. Another cheap alternative I heard of is to change the number of windings in the stock alternator. Pushes out more current but could smoke it real quick.. Good luck..

No i've never heard of the 88 with 16 subs, but i read the guy with 4 15's, and that's pretty crazy. Mine is an 89.

oops, my bad. it's a '91 and it has 16 MTX Thunder 8000 10" subs, 16 MTX Thunder 302 amps (300 watts X 1 bridged @ 12 volts), and is powered by 5(!) 100-amp alternators. last i READ it had a SPL level of 157.4 which wasn't all that great. the last i HEARD it was around 165 (now that's more like it). check out www.cartoyzinc.com for pics and such

well since i put my system on here i also put my roomates on here also since his car is 91 Civic HB DX with a WW rs kit. I also did the full install on it also.
This car is a daily driver and has a mixtre od spl and SQ.

Sony M600 (black face)
sony 10 disc changer
1) Xtr 6 1/2 componet kit
2)-15" HCCA's
1) 225R HCCA running mids/highs
4) XtreamPro 2400's (brand new class d amp 3000watts a piece w/1 per voice coil)
1)18 cubft box with a 400" port in a flat wall
8)8volt battries wired in series to provide a 16v system for the sub amps only

well that pretty much covers the equipment in the car. The car competes in both Usac outlw and Db Drag SS 1/2 and does very well in both. With the current set up the car does 159-161 on the dash and mid 160's outlaw

what brand are you going with? kenwood is getting down and dirty. they are reliable and most up to date. if you haven't yet, go check out their line.

PS. this is my heaven. 80% of the Civic owners could careless about audio. really a shame. Civics' excel in sound as well as they do in speed
