Granachannel!

Right, out of the mighty boredness of OCB, he has created the #Granachannel, the IRC channel of the Granaboard. Join me there. You may need to download mIRC, which you can get at www.mIRC.com I look forward to seeing you all there.

To Wiseman, if this idea lasts, we'll need to discuss some rules. Basicly, i'm thinking the same rules as the granaboard, but with relaxed hentai rules. We'll also need to think about mods and file sharing too.

That may be a good idea, but what server are you using?

Also, the problem is that if we all leave the chatroom, it'll be gone, and the next one who enters becomes the moderator.

We could give it a try though, and agree to use a specific chatroom in a specific server, password protected (the pasword would be posted here). If anyone wants to chat, he or she should go there, and if the chat room is empty, he or she should become the next chat moderator and set the password. If this goes well, I could include password, server, chatroom, and a guide to connect to it, in a page of the Granaboard website, as long as we agree to respect the rules (pretty much the same rules as for posting here).

interesting, but why not keep it Granaboard? Granachannel sounds a bit...... awkward.

You can use IRC with Trillian, but I recommend the mIRC IRC client, which you should get for IRC chats.

Xellos and I have set up a temporary Granachannel, but we still have to think of a lot of things, like finding a server with a channel bot or something to prevent it from being stolen if nobody's in.

The server we are using is Undernet. You should connect to any Undernet server (try to choose the one closest to your place). The reason why this is important is that different servers (not mirrors) have different channels, so a channel may exist in DALnet and may not exist in Newnet, or it might exist with completely different users.

I chose Undernet for now because Undernet has many mirrors over the world, yet it's not the largest (DALnet is). I think it's a good choice because it's big and reliable, but not the biggest and possibly slowest because of it being overcrowded.

HOW TO JOIN

Connect to any Undernet server (try to choose the closest one to your place). Once connected, type:

/join #Granachannel albedo

in the MIRC Status tab. "albedo" is a password so no random DBZ l33t fanbois may get in.

If you find yourself alone, you're the new channel op (moderator). You should make sure the password is set; to do so just type anywhere:

/mode #Granachannel +k albedo

If you want to quit, or you want to give the op status to a different user, you may type:

/mode #Granachannel +o [user]

Please op me whenever I get in.

I've set up a Granaboard channel on DALnet which cannot be stolen because a bot is maintaining it. Also, it no longer requires a password, because it's a secret channel, so the channel name itself is the password.

CONNECTING TO THE GRANABOARD CHANNEL:

You need an IRC client, like mIRC. If you don't know what's this all about, search Google for mIRC and IRC tutorials, or ask here in the board. I'll write a short guide when I get some time.

To join, all you have to do is to connect to any DALnet server of your choice (try ones closer to your place) and type:

/join #Granaboard

REGISTERING YOUR NICK:

It's recommended that you register your nick if you are going to use it regularly. To do so, type:

/nick [nick_of_your_choice]

until the server accepts it. If it rejects the nick because it's already registered, it'll be changed to something like Guest50246, so you must try again with a different one. For example, I couldn't register Wiseman, I had to register MrWiseman.

Once you get a nickname you want, type:

/NickServ register [password] [email]

Where "password" is a password for your nickname, and "email" is a valid E-Mail address. Then you will be sent an E-Mail which you must read and open the URL it says to finish registration. Once you're fully registered, it's recommended to type the following:

/NickServ set enforce on

BECOMING AN OP:

Ops are regular users who may kick and ban. Useful if unwanted people comes. Since all of us know and are nice to each other and (I hope) know to behave, I will promote to op status anyone who:

1. Wants,

2. And has a registered nickname (to avoid non-Granaboarders from becoming ops and screwing the channel).

Once you permanently become an op through this procedure, the bot will op you again everytime you connect to the channel.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

No official rules yet. Unofficial rules are the same as the GR&R. Ops may kick people who don't respect them, and ban people who misbehave repeteadly. I can unban.
