I'm going to hold off on taking you up on that offer, since I don't have an idea, will more than likely not need said character for a few weeks, and can probably make one pretty quick if my number is up.
Whooo boy......another thing to think about! I'm in. Half orc half dwarf monk barbarian male! WHOOT!
Ok....maybe not. Maybe I'll do something really simple like a half elf fighter!!
Count me in.

Sounds like an interesting idea.
Okay...
You...Hummingbird.. ~SMACK~
and you..with the long riduculous ever-changingf name...you are set, and you are one of the people I was thinking would be away and others would need substitutes because of, but feel free to make a back up if you wish.
and you... Lyssandra... You were the person I was thinking of most, since you've only ever missed once. Let me know when you have an idea.
I stikll want others to get on board...Celene, Aoborr and Seara are not always an option.
Looks like we are running into a minor glitch.
Every so often, we have enough players to play (my minimum requirement has always been three), but not enough for the current parties to go about their business. Let's face it, a party of 6 mising one is no biggie, but when half the party is gone, it's tough for those there, and hard on those who miss it. We are constantly walking that tightrope between campaign setting and one night stand.
And so, and we have done this before, I propose that each of you makes a new 1st level character to keep in reserve for the situations in which characters are needed for a low population night, or to replace unrecoverable deaths.
Let me know what you think about this, a it seems for the upcoming holiday wekends, we may have a small turnout, but enough to actually want to play.
Great idea there...
chiefly because it makes me feel less guilty when I keep having to miss these things due to holiday plans.
Thanks
Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd bring this one about since more than once we've had situations as described where not everyone could make it or even not most.
My questions are more along the line of:
I know Evil and CN (rats) alignments are out, but are any particular classes out, or class/race combos?
For example, I'm very grateful you let me play a monk, but IIRC, you wanted them to be played sparingly and only with good back story IF ever again.
On the flip side, Sorcerer seems to be doing dandy IMO (Then again, I'm biased, I'm enjoying Kel)
Do all the main races have Paladins? And, do all the Deities have Paladins?
For example, Stellari has been mentioned to be a mostly chaotic goddess (More so than Lunari), so could an Elven Paladin still be dedicated to her despite the required LG alignment?
As I see it, yes.
Paladins do not have to be associated with a particular god or goddess though they do have to keep the LG alignment even if they do select a chaotic or neutral deity as their patron. Deity choice for a paladin is more an RP preference than anything else.
Even the blackguard, which is the opposite of the paladin, needs to be lawful and evil.

For the rest of us, its just speculation really, fun speculation though Originally posted by Lyssandra:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes. I will not allow further monks, and prestige classes based on evilness (even if the prereq doesn't call for evil alignment) are right out.Originally posted by Dramavictim:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If the character is LG, they can serve any deity within reason. The goddess of dragons also represents the metallic, good dragons, so that would be permissible. Paladins of Solaris, Lunari, Stellari and Tor are very common. A paladin fdedicated to the God of Death and destruction is an oxymoron, and one dedicated to The jester just doesn't really make sense, so those are out. Any trace that I would permit you to play, would be allowed to play a paladin.Originally posted by Dramavictim:

I hope this helps.
Recently, we have had everyone, or all but one player, present at the games. If the time should come when we have two or more missing, I would have to resort to an alternate plan for the night. I know at least two players have submitted approved 1st level characters. The rest of you might want to check the Approved Characters section and pickl sopmething not represented by the last first level characters in the list. I just don't know how long the good attendance streak will hold up...especially with the good weather coming, and at least two of the players belonging to a group that hosts outdoor weekend event(s).
