I'm sure we've all picked up little tricks to make using the chat easier . . . here's mine:
If you click once on your name in the left-hand window, it resets the inactivity clock, so you won't get bounced and don't have to type a period.

While I don't allow players to use more than one character on adventures, there is no limit to how many you can take into the inn for socializing.

So I have discovered these tips when using two browser windows.

First, I use two entirely different browsers.

There is a small icon on the chat interface that allows you to make the window full size.

You may not only choose a font color, but style and size. I don't think everyone else sees the size difference, but I have noticed different fonts on screen from players.

And to solve that pop up problem...google has a pop up killer that integrates into Internet Explorer...which for me kills one set only, but might be helpful to you others.
