I know football is on everyones mind right now but is there anyone out there ready for basketball? It's been over a year since we've (girls) have played and i'm ready to play or at least start practice!!!!!

Yes i am ready for basketball season even though they are screwin up the seasons combining girls and boys together. Football is great and all but im ready for baskeball now cuz we beat honaker and already played clintwood so most of the highlights of the season are over besides the playoffs that should prove to also be great. I think this year Haysi is going to prove to be dominant in the bdd. Honaker will give us a rough time but I think we can take em with all of our starters returning except for the loss of Dustin Mullins. JV is gonna blow this year so ah well not gonna say anything about it.

I am not looking forward to the combined season either Olorin. It's all BS! JV is gonna be horrible. the whole jv program is just going to go down the drain. But what can we do about it???

Honaker should still be the overwhelming favorite in the BDD and the Region again this year. Council will be 2nd and probably could upset Honaker somewhere along the line (a lot of pride was swallowed that night at the district tourny last season). Judging from what I saw from Haysi last year, unless they really start working hard which theres no doubt in my mind they will, they will struggle, probably in close contention with Twin Valley for 3rd. And as for Hurley... Sorry but I just don't think the Rebs have what it takes. I think the competiveness in the BDD in basketball ranks above any district in Group A, the Three Rivers and the Black Diamond are definitly the most competivie IMO.

I strongly agree on the fact that the BDD is the best boys basketball district possibly in the state, we have basically 4 teams that can make all the way this year. I still gotta go with Haysi takin the district crown, mainly cause I'm a Haysi boy. It should be a wild and crazy season!!!

I agree with you guys and i also think that the girls games will be very competitive as well. Honaker is gonna be tough with Miller and Mullins, Haysi is young but has loads of talent, twin valley has Maxwell, and Jamie Presley will be leading Council so it will be a toss up between any of these 4 teams.
I don't know a lot about Hurley so i won't speculate on them.

I have to say varsity is going to be a toss-up between haysi and honaker. its all gonna depend on whos havin the good nite. Jv will be the same as well.......even though nobody gives a shit haha. Varsity should be really exciting though in both boys and girls although i wish they wasnt on the same nite. It should prove to be a very exciting and difficult season for all of the bdd.

Now back to the topic...

The district is going to be crazy this year in both girls and boys basketball. I really have no idea who will win the district ethier way. I am going to have to say Council in boys and Haysi in Girls... That is just a prediction though, anything could happen...

Gosh I am LOVING all this talk about girls basketball...This is great...I hope everyone will keep posting throughout the pre-season and during season...Here are my predictions...

Boys:
Honaker
Haysi
Council
Twin Valley
Hurley

Girls:
Haysi
Honaker
Twin Valley
Council
Hurley

I will not explain my post for the boys...Honaker just has some talent, Haysi may upset them, but I dont think they could beat them out of winning district. It could be a Toss up between Twin Valley and Council for 3rd place, but Im giving it to Twin Valley. And well I dont know know much about Hurley.

Now for the girls...Im going with Haysi first because they proved last year, that as a young team they could beat the odds and beat all the teams in the district at least once. They started the season picked 4th, thats one above Hurley. Im going with Honaker 2nd because they have 5 good players back, that were all starters for them last year. They are gonna have alot of all around talent. Twin Valley should beat Council out of the 3rd place position because Twin Valley has Baldwin and Maxwell, and a few young players that could suprise you, while Council only stands out with Presley. Hurley has one or two pretty big girls, but as far as beating the other teams in the district, I dont think they could pull it off.
