and not enough offense to put it to use.

It's quite an insult actually to the fans of Cleveland. If the Scoreboard is an improvement over the existing one than additional ad revenues will be generated by the improved graphics that will inevitably be part of the new scoreboard.

Otherwise, I bet the necessary parts to maintain the scoreboard could be found on ebay.

Instead of using upfront money to pay for the new scoreboard, use the backend money from additional ad revenue to pay for the loan for the purchase of the new scoreboard.

Saving the upfront scoreboard money allows the team to not be so timid with the payroll which will please the fans and increase on field performance and attendance.

Well, the good news is now we can see all the former Indians achievements with other ballclubs on an even brighter and more vivid scoreboard.

Hmmm, is Dolan a sadist? You'd think he'd want a dimmer non-functioning scoreboard at least for one more year.

Question

Are you going to be like the fool on Cleveland Live who complained that Dolan spent money on a scoreboard, and when discovered that Dolan didn't spend his own money on the scoreboard felt that Dolan was too cheap to do that?

If Dolan didn't spend the money then I hope he's not taking credit for it. However, as I clearly stated in my original statement, the money should be raised through improved advertising options a new and improved scoreboard will bring.

I'm glad to see that appears to be the case.
Now we need Vic Martinez at third so that we have something to put on the scoreboard.

Probably not as many as you want to believe.

So he makes 35-40 errors, even 45, WHO CARES!
His hitting will more than make up for that.

Sorry - much prefer good defense and hitting at all positions....

Definately prefer someone with experience at the position they plan on being played at.

Obsession is not healthy Alex....

According to your plan, Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, and Carlos Baerga should never have made it because their fielding was superceded by their hitting capabilities.

Playing out of their position, none of them would have made it.

According to your plan you would have moved Belle to center, left Ramirez at third, and probably left Thome at short.

Don't put words in my mouth. Not opposed to putting offensive talent on the field. Am definately opposed to putting people out of position on the field.

But I guess you wouldn't have been able to tell that from my previous posts.

Crank, you analogies don't relate to the discussion at hand. The point is all of these "superstars" were playing all the positions that are relegated to those who have more power than finesse.

The only exception would be Carlos Baerga and we made an exception because unlike Mr. Bellie, Carlos put up offensive numbers similar to what Honus Wagner did.

EVERYONE of the examples, Jim Thome, Albert Belle, Manny Ramierz, and Carlos Baerga found playing time BECAUSE THEY COULD HIT.

Vic Martinez can hit, ergo he should play everyday, we have an opening at third, let Vic fill it so he doesn't take bats away from our other prospects who need to play regularly.

Exclamation

Thome and Ramirez were moved to LESS demanding defensive positions.

And you want to move Martinez to perhaps an equally demanding if not more demanding defensive position?????

Martinez is going to play everyday between catching and playing first/dhing.
