We already have a second baseman. His name is Johnny Mac!!! He gets three hits the other night, takes Jeter out with a nice clean hard slide and then Manuel sits him yesterday??? I don't get it???

I think people don't realize just how damaging it is to have Ricky G be our starting second baseman.

He does not fit John Shapiro's criteria for our club. Ricky G is neither a prospect nor a clutch vet. Yet his playing time diminishes Johnny Mac's playing time and more importantly, deludes the organization into not worrying about second base because of their contractual obligation to Ricky G.

While Johnny Mac is not a Pete Rose type of hitter, he is a Pete Rose type of hustler. Ya kinda of wonder if Pete Rose had come up in our organization right now if he ever would have cracked the line-up under the Shapiro regime.

Bottom line is Shapiro should get Castillo if at all possible. An infield of Thome, Castillo, Omar, & Phillips next year sure sounds good to me.

I assume they would want a package of prospects. I would listen carefully if I were Shapiro.
