Man did the sophmore jinx hit CC and Cleveland hard or what? What hit him the hardest the robbery, pushing 3 bills on the scale, the rest of the league being more aware of his weakeness? My feeling is the Indians should really have waited another year to give him the big contract extension. Some athletes perform better when they're playing for a contract and CC got the money early and the hunger died. You'd think the hit they took with Jaret Wright would have made the Front Office a little more cautious.

I have previously advocated sending the phat phuck to Buffalo until he gets his head together and his weight down. Last night's performance did nothing to change that. I loved his impersonation of a floundering walrus trying to field that ground ball. [img]graemlins/thumbs_down.gif[/img]

The White Sox are a good hitting team. I'm impressed that C.C. could hold them through eight innings.

He's had problems with the A's and Yankees, but that will change. He's not huffing and puffing now, and his control is good. I'm glad we signed him. He'll be a bargain in future years.

CC seems to have turned the corner, no doubt about it.

However, who has he beaten? Detroit? Chicago?

I think he's doing better, but let's see how he does against the elite teams.

This goes back to an old post of mine about the Pros and Cons of arbitration busting contracts.

My point was if you do this one of 2 things happens:

- Colon; Ramirez; You get a steal for a few years but then it leaves them determined to break the bank via FA.

- Wright; The money is wasted.

Both possible outcomes aren't good.

Factor in the motivation issue with CC and it's another reason just to pay the arbitration (like the Yankees did with jeter I think). Being able to cut a player like Wright would pay the the extra cash the good players will earn.

This logic says the CC contract is a mistake.
