NEW FORUM ::: Any ideas ???

First off I have seen more activity in this league then i ever have in any of my other leagues and the main simgalaxy forum ... which of course is what I had really hoped would happen so I am pleased

Im really happy with the turn out of GMs that have obtained a team within the league.

Anyways I have always hated HOSTBOARD as the official forum ... it looks tacky and over crowded with the way the topics are done

Does anyone have any ideas on another form or style of a FORUM that we might use

Even if you must pay I would consider it ... as long as I am not putting out a 100$ a year or something ... plus if it must be hosted I already pay for a site for the league website so it can be done their i would just need help with how to install and run the whole thing

I would just like something that looks better and cleaner ... an area for all the teams to have their own sections and then the main forum and what not

I'm a big fan of phpBB forums (http://www.phpbb.com/) -- you'll recognise it as the same framework as the L31 forum. If you've got access to a webserver yourself already, you should be able to host it free of charge.

ya i really like the BB as well ... i just downloaded the free beta and am going to take a look at it and see if i can get it up and running

problem with it though

the beta to actual release is suppose to be in march sometime and im not sure if the beta goes away at that time and i have to purchase the real thing which when i looked the cheapest at the moment is like 299$

i still want the BB and will try for that but take a look at the one twinkie said ... for free its actually rather nice looking

Just PM BasTyra on the L31 board and ask her if she had to pay for it. I know plenty of people who host phpBB boards but I don't think any of them has paid for it.
