    Question

Anybody know whenever it's possible to change the optical input in EWS64XLs front panel from S/PDIF to ALESIS ADAT format? I asked this from TERRATEC, but got no reply frown . Alesis can't change it's output to S/PDIF...

    Question

    Hmmmm...
I know that S/PDIF and AES/EBU use a similar protocole for data transfer so it "may" be possible. The problem is to find the "change input".

    Wink

    "Kind of" problem:

Synth uses ADAT format, which is(?) 4 channels (main L&R, AUX L&R), S/PDIF is "only" 2 (L&R)...

So main problem is my synth, it sends that ADAT format from Optical out and XL takes S/PDIF... hmmm...

    (from Synths manuals):
"The digital I/O connector follows a proprietary Alesis format that carries all four audio outputs on a single fiber optic cable. Either pair of outputs can be converted into standard AES/EBU or S/PDIF stereo digital audio format by using the Alesis AI-1 interface."

HINT: Try to find this mystical AI-1 device, from Finland I found 0 devices.

SO: if somehow S/PDIF input could be transfered to ADAT... frown
