    hi,
    does anybody have plans for an altec 612A cabinet? I've found only this poor pdf sketch for an 612 (I guess it must be c) cabinet.
    I'd like to rebuild this 612A cabinet for my 604h project.
    thanks for support

    Never seen a 612A plan, but you could combine the dimensions and photo here;

    http://www.voiceofthetheatre.com/uti...abinets.th.htm

    with the later model plan here;

    and get real close. The biggest difference appears to be the overhanging front lip on the later plan vs the retro front panel of the "A".

    You might want to look at later model such as the 612-c.

    yes,

    thanks bfish, havn't seen these sides before, especially the pdf file is much better then my version.
    by accident I've found a post by steve shell in the audioheriage forum for lensing products from 2003, where he offered plans for the 612A cabinet.

    larry,
    my preference is a result of an audition, when I've listened to a pair of 604e in vintage 620 EMI cabinets and a pair of 604h in these 612A cabinets (both with same crossovers)
    these 604H were exactly these items:

    Hi Baja,
    Just curious, why you chose the 612 cabinet for a 604h project? do you have size constraints? Just seems if you are going to the effort and expense of building custom cabinets, the better choice would probabaly be the 620 cabinet for the 604h. It's a bit larger than the 612. It is a 9 cubic ft. cabinet, but it does put the speaker higher off the floor, which is a definite plus for home listening. I can tell you from personal experience, the 604-8h sounds incredible in the 620 cabinet, as I own a pair myself. I think you would be pleased, with a better bass response of the 620.

    Inquiring minds want to know.
